FIELDS OF SPECIALIZATION

Research: Dr. Anamika Sharma is an entomologist/insect ecologist with a focus on biological control and integrated pest management. She is extensively trained in insect ecology and various facets of insect-plant interaction. At the Center for Biological Control, her focus is on urban and agricultural insects. She is working on fire ants, termites, mosquitoes, and urban and agricultural invasive insect pests. She focuses on the research encompassing various aspects of management of insect pests by using natural enemies including predators, parasitoids, microbial agents (entomopathogenic fungus and nematodes), and other biorational products. Earlier, she has worked both on weed and insect biocontrol programs.

Extension: Florida A&M University offers an annual Entomology Field Day & Workshop that provides current information, training, and continuing education credits for pest control professionals in Florida and other states. Major topics covered in the field day are household pests, termites, lawn and ornamentals, fumigation, public health, and core subjects.
